Our salve combines magnesium hydroxide, kaolin clay, arrowroot, and raw, unrefined shea butter to help manage odor, absorb excess moisture, and soften underarm skin. Our mist features potassium alum mineral salt in a water-based formula.

Choose from Sandalwood, Blue Tansy and Rose, or Lavender, with aromatic ingredients instead of synthetic fragrance.

Mineral Salt Mist: Ingredients & Their Roles

• Potassium Alum — A mineral salt used in deodorants for odor care.

What Makes Potassium Alum Different?

Potassium alum is also known as potassium aluminum sulfate, a salt that can occur naturally. It is a different compound from aluminum chlorohydrate, an ingredient commonly used in conventional antiperspirants.

A 2016 laboratory study published in the Journal of Clinical and Health Sciences found that potassium alum inhibited four bacterial strains associated with underarm odor. These findings support its potential use in deodorants, although they do not establish the performance of BCBK’s finished formula.

How to Use

1. Apply the salve overnight and during the day: Smooth a pea-sized amount onto clean, dry underarms. Warm with your fingertips if firm.

2. Apply the mist: Follow with 1-2 sprays of Mineral Salt Mist. Allow the area to dry before dressing.

3. Refresh as needed: Reapply Mist according to your activity and personal needs.

4. Use a light layer: Arrowroot powder in the salve may leave a faint white residue. Gently wipe away any excess.

For external use only. Avoid eyes, broken skin, and irritated skin. Avoid applying immediately after shaving if your skin feels sensitive. Try a small area first and discontinue use if irritation occurs. Natural ingredients and essential oils can still cause skin reactions.

Switching to Natural Deodorant?

Deodorant focuses on odor care, while antiperspirant reduces sweating. You may notice a different level of wetness when changing routines.

There is no established requirement to “detox” your underarms before switching. Keep your routine simple: cleanse gently, wear clean, breathable clothing, and pay attention to how your skin responds. Burning, itching, or a rash should not be treated as a normal detox phase.
